The world is a propagating ripple on the surface of a serene pond.
As the ripple forms a crest,
the sun’s gold glistens off the bare, smooth surfaces.
As the ripple forms a trough,
a shadow pervades and darkens the depression.
The crest and trough make the ripple,
as the seed and the fire make the man.
Yet the ripple will always return to the center:
the equilibrium position.
The ripple is enlightened when phlegmatic and placid,
waltzing with the equilibrium like a willow in the wind.
Otherwise it is boisterous, loud and spasmodic,
only perturbing the clockwork of life.
so…
What kind of pebble will you throw into the pond?
I loved the ending line of your poem, I interpreted it as asking what will you contribute to the pond of life.
ReplyDeleteThe last line was really creative, and would probably cause a lot of readers to have to step back and think about themselves. The imagery was also phenomenally well done.
ReplyDeleteThe ending was very creative.
