The fires again run over the mountains
A tiny phoenix subdued the soil
Rising into an oak upon the tallest of the mountains
The fires arise scorching the mountains
Watching his sisters fall
But stands taller against the jousting flames
The snow falls heavy with his leaves
But he elevates his branches to catch more
The white blanket is pulled away
And the sun draws out the water
He showers the carpets with his children
The animals consume quicker than the ground
But his faiths is of resilience
The men came
And when inquire of his age
He could not say
When questioned of his resilience
He could not answer
The coming fires spoke of his bark
His posterity whispered his years
The fires again run over the mountains
And when the life returns
All they know is of his existence

I love the symbolism and descriptive writing. This poem creates a work of art in my mind.
ReplyDeleteLoved the metaphor of the white blanket!
ReplyDeleteI like the picture
ReplyDeleteI really like how descriptive the poem is and how it ties back to the first stanza at the end.
