he must cross the river
so he lets himself be taken

The Man is the master
The Earth is the water
The universe is the river
The Tao is the current
The man follows the earth
The earth follows the universe
The Universe follows the Tao
The master flows with the current
I like how you describe the Tao as the current of a river, its a really interesting way to think about the flow of the Tao in the universe.
