Flowing Rivers

Do not pull against the world
push with it
Do not resist the world
Flow with it rather than pushing upstream

The master looks at the world
like two rivers flowing by him
as if he was standing on an island

The master knows
he must cross the river
so he lets himself be taken
by the current

The Man is the master
The Earth is the water
The universe is the river
The Tao is the current

The man follows the earth
The earth follows the universe
The Universe follows the Tao
The master flows with the current

  1. I like how you describe the Tao as the current of a river, its a really interesting way to think about the flow of the Tao in the universe.

  2. The way you related the man to the master, the earth to the water, the universe to the river, and the Tao to the current was very creative and painted an image in my mind that helped understand your theme.

  3. This was really moving and had great word choice. I'd believe it was a real tao te ching poem
